SOUTH BEND - Charles Robert Swanson, 91, of South Bend, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the Hospice House in South Bend. He was born May 21, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Ivar & Clara (Bethke) Swanson.

Surviving are two nieces, Beverly (Herb) Havera of Edwardsburg, MI, Barbara (Ron) Giska of Elkhart; two nephews, Dennis (Peggy) Swanson of Nappanee, IN, and Tom (Deb) Swanson of Elkhart. Also surviving are numerous great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-great-nieces and nephews; and two special helpful neighbors, Alice and Wilma. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ervin I. Swanson.

Charles was a member of the Bakery, Confectionery and Tobacco Workers International Union, AFL-CIO since 1953. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Charles worked at Kreamo Bakery for over 44 years.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or services and cremation will take place. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.

Memorial contributions may be given to the South Bend Hospice House, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
