SOUTH BEND - Mr. Charlie Askew, age 74, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away on January 28, 2014, at his residence on LongLake Road, Berrien Springs, MI. Charlie was born May 26, 1939, in Starkville, MS, to George and Alice Askew. He was the eighth of nine children born to George & Alice Askew. He was raised in a Baptist environment and had Christian principles. He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Alice Askew; and five siblings, Margaret, Willie G., Lillie T., Henry J. and Herman. Charlie had a love for country life, so after the death of his mother he moved to southwest MI and worked as an agriculture employee for 47 years. Survivors include three siblings, Louise (Sam) Outlaw, Eva Minor and Robert Askew; a special niece, Lillie Mae Askew; a special dear childhood friend, Arthur (Linda) Bell; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Wallace Funeral Home in Maywood, IL. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Forest Home Cemetery.
