I have known Elfreida since the time my cousin, Clem, married her. My Dad, John, was always visiting Clem, or vise versa. So after they got married we would still go visiting After my Navy tour, college, marriage, and my move to Maryland, I did’t visit South Bend as often. As my family grew up trips to S.B. began to include visits to more family, including cousins. We got to know Clem and Elfreida as adults (I was no longer a kid).
I always enjoyed my visits with them because they were always interesting to talk with and gracious hosts. In later years, my father passed and then my mother was in a nursing home. I would see Clem and Elfrieda visiting my mom. After Clem and my mother passed. Bev and I would visit Elfrieda when we visited cousin Barbara. These were always memorable visits for me. Now I am glad that I took time to visit with my relatives in South Bend as often as possible. Clem’s parents were my great uncle and great aunt and I loved everyone in that family from my early childhood. Elfrieda was a part of that family and that love. I share your sadness and grief but rejoice in the knowledge of her everlasting life in heaven. My heart goes out to Jill and Ken and all the rest of Elfrieda’s extended. My God bless you all.

Elfrieda was one of the most beautiful women and best roll models I have known. I am so saddened by her passing. She was gracious and told wonderful stories when we rode to church together. My prayers and deepest sympathy go out to her family.

In loving memory of a wonderful lady, who touched the lives of many. My parents spoke of her often. Only a few years ago I spoke to her son Kenneth. Now that you have your wings, when you see my parents, please let them lnow I miss them. May you all have a happy heavenly reunion!
