Harold Tolbert Obituary
EDWARDSBURG - Harold Delos Tolbert, 88, passed away February 19, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was the first born of Harold S. and Laura E. (Spencer) Tolbert on January 25, 1926, in Cassopolis, MI. Coming from Jones, MI, he purchased his first farm west of Edwardsburg in 1957 where he farmed and milked cows with the help of his children. He enjoyed a fulfilled life of outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, riding snowmobiles, cutting wood, and farming until the age of 85. On November 8, 1969, he married the former Christine (Meister) Tucker, uniting two families. She survives with their children, Laura (Tom) Carroll, Jeffrey (Melissa) Tolbert and Steven (Kathy) Tucker, alL of Edwardsburg, Richard (Jackie) Tolbert of Sandy, OR, and Cathy (Marty) Tucker of Indianapolis, IN. There are 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Surviving also are brothers, Loren E. (Mary Jo) Tolbert of Edwardsburg, MI, John (Leta) Tolbert of Lakeland, FL; a sister, Carolyn (Harold) Rodman of Union, MI; brother-in-law, William (Karen) Meister of Osceola; sister-in-law, Dawn Seifer of Plymouth; and his beloved Lab, Annie. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Georgia Filbrandt; a nephew, Mike Tolbert, and brother-in-law, Virgil Seifer. Visitation will be held TODAY from 5-8 PM at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Edwardsburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Animal Control & Shelter, 323 M62 North, Cassopolis, MI 49031. Oh"Dear Harold where do I start! You were a great man,Father, Husband.....friend,I loved having you as one of my pts. @ Dr. Mokfi's office....I loved it w/you would come up to my desk after you had your blood draw and gave me that beautiful smile of yours.And of course I would always called
you handsome......I loved you so and will never forget you.......we go way back.......to the 70s,when I dated your son Rick!......I'am so looking I got to be your nurse for all these years.
