Jason Barnes Obituary
Jul. 12, 1973 - Oct. 11, 2016
OSCEOLA - Jason L. Barnes, age 43 of Osceola passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Jason was born July 12, 1973 in Elkhart, Indiana.
Surviving are his parents Jim and Nancy Barnes and his brother Jeff Barnes, all of Elkhart. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There will be visitation from 4-7 pm Monday, October 17, 2016 at Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home in Osceola, with funeral services to follow at 7:00 pm. A private burial will take place at Olive Cemetery on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
Jason was employed by the US Postal Service for over 2o years as a mail carrier. He had also been employed part time at Hardware Plus in Osceola for several years.
In his spare time, Jason was an avid fisherman and recently had begun to play golf again. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends, who described him as kind and fun-loving with a heart of gold. Jason was also a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan, and it was rare to see him without a Packers hat, both in the winter and summer.
Jason also loved animals. On his mail route, he carried a bag of treats for the dogs he would encounter and made many furry friends along the way, as he would give them a biscuit at the mailbox.

It seems like only yesterday that Jason and I went to the bar next to our PO, so I could buy him a beer on his 21st birthday. I always thought of him as a son and am deeply saddened by his passing. I will choose to remember the good times.

Jim, Nancy, and Jeff I'd like to offer my deepest sympathies. We had Many great times growing up as kids laughing, playing, making memories I'll never forget, and...yes.. getting into trouble! I worked with Jason for 21 years and he was part of our little Osceola carriers family. There will be a piece of all our hearts missing for he was our little brother. I personally will miss his teasing of me about football as I am a diehard Bears fan. To Jim, Nancy, Jeff, and the rest of the family I pray for strength to see you thru the next couple of weeks and healing of the heart when you can reflect on all the good times you had with your son brother cousin. Rest easy Jason♡
