SOUTH BEND - Margaret Marie Hes, 87, of South Bend, died peacefully Monday, February 6, 2012, at 5:55 a.m. in Michiana Health and Rehabilitation, Mishawaka, following an illness. Mrs. Hes was born November 21, 1924, in Chicago, IL, to the late Florence (Nagel) and Adolph Sommerfield, and had lived in South Bend for 66 years. On January 12, 1946, in South Bend, as Margaret M. Sommerfield, she married Walter D. Hes, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy Partridge of Mishawaka and Carolyn James (Hal) of South Bend; two sons, Thomas Hes (Connie) and David Hes (Cindy), both of South Bend; a nephew, Robert J. Sommerfield of Paw Paw, MI; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. A brother, Robert Sommerfield, preceded her in death. Mrs. Hes was employed at Simplicity Pattern in Niles, retiring in 1986. She was a charter member and very involved at Clay Church, formerly Clay United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hes always put her family first, and volunteered many hours at Eggelston School. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9th, in Clay Church, 52866 Ironwood Road, South Bend, with Rev. Herb Buwalda officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.
