SOUTH BEND - Marie S. Vargo, 89, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011, in the Michiana Health and Rehabilitation Center. Marie was born on February 3, 1922, in Argonne, WI, to Vincent and Elizabeth (Tarnecy) Prusinski. Marie married Joseph R. Vargo on May 17th in South Bend, IN. Joseph preceded Marie in death on December 25, 1999. Four brothers and seven sisters also preceded Marie in death. Marie is survived by her daughter, Donna Zorn, and her husband, Michael of Granger, IN; one grandson, Ryan (Amy) Kominkiewicz of Peoria, IL; and one sister, Evelyn Gorski of Milwaukee, WI. Marie was a hairdresser and owned and operated Marie's Beauty Salon for over 45 years. She was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, American Legion Post #357 and Z.B. Falcons. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, South Olive Street, South Bend. Father Tom Lemos, C.S.C., will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made in Marie's name to the Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. The family would like to thank all those at the Milton Home who cared for mom during her illness.
