SOUTH BEND - Paul E. Greaf, 86, residing in South Bend, passed away at 6:00 am Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at home. He was born in Portland, IN, on Sept. 14, 1927, to the late Russell and Anna (Knabb) Greaf, and had lived in the South Bend area since 1978, coming from Connersville, IN. On June 10, 1950, in Centerville, IN, Paul married the former Joyce June Davis, who preceded him in death on July 8, 2002. On April 16, 2008, he married Sharon Nickison, who survives. In addition to his wife, Sharon, Paul is survived by daughters, Jennifer A. (Craig) Lowry of Columbus, IN, and Julie A. (Paul) Sundstrom of Hilton Head, SC; 5 grandchildren, Christan, Sarah, Natalie, Zachary and Katarina; and 6 great-grandchildren. Stepchildren, Kathy (Bill) Jensen of Granger, IN, John (Evie) Nickison of South Bend, IN, & Marcie (John) Petry of Granger, IN, also survive. He was preceded in death by brothers, Roger and Harold Greaf. Paul served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. After his military service, Paul worked as an insurance agent for Prudential and John Hancock for 40 years. He remained active during retirement, working as a greeter at Palmer Funeral Homes, and then later at the Burke Memorial Golf Course at Notre Dame. Paul was passionate about supporting our local community, and devoted much of his time and resources as an active member of the Potawatomi Kiwanis Club & Clay United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed world travel, playing bridge, and the game of golf. Visitation will be on Monday, October 14th, 2013, in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, from 4 pm - 7 pm, with a brief service following.
