Portia Duff Obituary
Dec. 21, 1939 - Oct. 13, 2016
SOUTH BEND - Portia Duff, 76, residing in South Bend, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016, at her home. Portia was born on December 21, 1939, in Washington, DC, to the late Clay T. and Beulah (Harris) Brockman, and has resided in the South Bend area since 2005, coming from Austin, Texas.
Portia graduated from the University of Michigan and has been a loyal football fan. She previously worked in customer service with Teachers Credit Union in Austin, Texas, before retiring in 2005. While living in South Bend, she attended Evangel Heights United Methodist Church where she was actively involved. She enjoyed being an usher at the South Bend Civic Theatre and enjoyed traveling the world.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynda (Kevin) Gring of South Bend, and Pam Duff of Chicago; and one grandchild, Brian Gring. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly (James) Turner of Ann Arbor, Michigan; her brother, Thomas (Rosalyn) Brockman of Newberry, England; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Portia B. Duff will be 11:30 am Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, 114 N. Ironwood, South Bend, IN 46615, with Pastor Pat Somers officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am until time of services on Tuesday at the church. Graveside services will take place at 11:00 am Wednesday at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy, Michigan.
Memorial contributions may be offered to Pet Refuge, 4626 Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614; or to the March of Dimes, 136 E. Market Street, Suite 500, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
