R. Mundy Obituary

R. Patrick Mundy

Jan. 16, 1948 - Nov. 27, 2018

GRANGER, IN - R. Patrick Mundy, 70, passed away unexpectedly November 27, 2018, after a brief illness.

Born January 16, 1948 in Salem, OH, he was the son of the late Leo Francis and Kathryn (Hertz) Mundy. His brother, Donald Mundy, also preceded him in death.

On June 12, 1971, Pat married the love of his life and his high school sweetheart, Trudy Nedelka, who survives. To their union, they were blessed with two children, Dr. Bradley (Ashley) of Granger, IN and Devon (Jordan) Spellmeyer of Carmel, IN. Also left to cherish his memory are three grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye: Nolan Mundy, and Cameron and Brody Spellmeyer; three sisters: Mary Jean (Bill) Cubbage of Burnsville, MN, Diane McLaughlin of Copley, OH, and Nancy Youel of Northfield Center, OH; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A very committed brother, husband, dad, and grandpa, Pat loved and valued spending time with his family more than anything. He was a man of his word and was known to be a straight shooter. He had a unique ability to carry on a conversation with anyone he met. Throughout his life, he was incredibly selfless and a hard worker who never desired material things of his own. He consistently put his family's and friends' needs ahead of his and found joy in doing so. He had an amazing talent at fixing just about anything and took pride in his many projects, never taking any shortcuts. With his unique sense of humor, he always managed to light up the room and make others laugh.

He attended St. Paul Catholic School in Salem, OH from K-8th grade, graduated from Salem High School, and then earned his BS in Marketing at The Ohio State University. Upon graduating from college, he worked for Uniroyal/Royalite for over 30 years. He held many positions in sales and management throughout his successful career. He remained a big fan of Ohio State football, and passed on the enthusiasm to his family. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout. He was dearly loved and his jokes and contagious laugh will be greatly missed by many.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 from 2-5 p.m., with a Vigil Service starting at 2 p.m. with Msgr. William Schooler, at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd.

Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead, and loving memories to forever hold in your heart!

November 30, 2018

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Pat's family, sorry for your loss. Jeremiah 29:11, 12 assures us that God is thinking thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope, and that if we come and pray to Him, He will listen to us. May that bring you comfort in this time of sorrow.
