SOUTH BEND - Robert Jack Hildebrandt, 91, of South Bend, passed away during the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the Brookdale Assisted Living Center. Jack was born on December 6, 1925, in South Bend, to the late Frank and Zinda (Day) Hildebrandt. Jack married Mary Lou Huston on January 26, 1962; she preceded him in death in 2011. He resided in Edwardsburg from 1963 until his health declined and he moved to the Brookdale Assisted Living Center in South Bend. Jack worked for Studebaker Corp. until their closing and then he became a printer, retiring from Impressions Printing in Elkhart. Jack enjoyed watching Westerns and the Lawrence Welk Show. He and his wife also enjoyed bowling and had participated in local leagues for many years.
Jack is survived by his sister, Sandy Barritt of Granger; niece, Jackie (Johnie) Wyatt of New Carlisle, Indiana; and nephew, Gareth Lamirand of South Bend; along with many great-nieces and nephews. Jack is also survived by his faithful four-legged companion, Mandy. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jane Lamirand.
As per Jack's wishes, there will be no services. Bubb Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545.
