GRANGER - Veronica M. Ackerman, 70, of Granger, passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2011, in her residence. Veronica was born on August 7, 1941, in Glasgow, Scotland to William and Sarah (Mallon) Cooper. Her husband Edward of 30 years preceded her in death. Veronica is survived by a daughter, Lori (Arnold) Ruiz of Granger; four grandchildren, Amber Russell, Erin Russell, Daniella Ruiz and Tony Ruiz; one great-grandchild, Dylan Miller; three brothers, Jack Cooper of New Zealand, Terry Cooper of Wales and Billy Cooper of Thailand. Veronica was a waitress at the Riviera in Mishawaka for years. She loved talking to people and had many regular customers. Everyone loved hearing her Scottish accent. After an illness, she then lived with her family. She loved to look after her grandkids. She loved to pose them all in special outfits and use a fan to have their hair blowing and take pictures. She was an avid history buff and loved trying to learn new languages. TV was quite important to her: she saw every CSI, Law and Order, Criminal Minds, Wheel of Fortune and reality shows. Veronica was a huge animal lover. She always fed squirrels, deer, and all types of birds. She loved her pets Cleo, Reece and Titi. They are sad without her. My mom had a very special relationship with God, and I know she is with my dad, feeling and looking good. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where funeral services will also take place at 5:00 p.m., also on Wednesday. Rev. John Seiter will officiate the services.
