William Holland Voll, Jr.
William Holland Voll, Jr. passed away on June 16, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on January 5, 1950 in South Bend to the late William and Virginia (McIntyre) Voll.
He graduated from St. Joseph High School (1968) and the University of Notre Dame (1972). He married Ann Elizabeth VandeMotter on November 19, 1976.
A kindhearted person, William was affectionately known as Styx by his siblings; Wild Bill by his sons; and Baba by his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife and 5 sons: Matthew (Jill), Kevin (Wan Mai), Patrick (Nicole), Brian, and Michael (Jessica). He is also survived by 9 brothers and sisters, 7 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill served as President of Sibley Machine and Foundry Corporation for 29 years. He was the third generation to continue the family business. For fun he obtained a private pilot license and earned instrument rating. Regarded by most as a quiet observer, Bill was known to inspire an adventurous spirit in others. He believed in taking the longer but more scenic route to see where it led, and he led his family on innumerable trips across five continents.
Visitation will be held today, Sunday, June 27 from 2- 6:00 PM, at McGann Hay University Chapel, 2313 E Edison Road, South Bend. A rosary will be prayed at the beginning of the visitation.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 28 at 11:00 AM, with visitation one-hour prior, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 226 N Hill St, South Bend

I knew Bill through my work at United Conveyor Corporation. My grandfather, who started the business, knew the Volls. My father, Don Basler also UCC, knew Bill Voll II well. I am the 3rd generation at UCC and worked with Bill III through Sibley. Bill was a kind and thoughtful gentleman. He was adept at keeping the business going for quite a while while (years) while there were financial challenges. We depended on Sibley to provide castings for our business. Sibley and Bill were building blocks in our success. He was taken too soon. My condolences to the family.
