Carrick, David 5/19/1954 - 5/21/2021 Mio, MI David Carrick of Mio, age 67, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at his residence. David was born in Flint, Michigan on May 19, 1954, the son of Edward and Louise (Elliott) Carrick. He worked as a Labor Representative at GM for 30 years. David enjoyed being in the outdoors, working with wood and camping. David was a lifelong Democrat who believed in equality for everyone. He was intelligent, kind and a truly decent human being who loved everyone and his wife and family above all else. He will be truly missed by all who loved him. Surviving are wife, Shirley "Sam" Carrick; daughter, Heather (Matt) Zielke; grandsons, Graham and Gavin Zielke; father, Ed Carrick of Zephyrhills, Florida; stepchildren, Don Hargraves, Debra Phillips and Matthew (Julie) Hargraves; step-grandchildren, Glory, Colton, Alex, Leeloo, Salem, Freya, Ares and Liam; sister, Donna (Duke) Graessle. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Carrick. Visitation 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021 followed by a memorial service to share memories of David, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Burial to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Research Society. Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road

Dave and I became friends while attending two different high schools in Flint Michigan .We both went on to share thirty plus years at Flint Truck and Bus. To the Carrick Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Rest in Peace Dave.

I knew Dave socially most of my life. I will always remember him for Deer season when the gang would hunt, play poker and go get the "Steak Tray" at a restaurant close to his cabin. Funny, generous, and a great friend. I will miss him. My thoughts go out to his loved ones.

my deepest sympathy for the CARRICK FAMILY, I wright this with a heavy heart, DAVE was my alternate committee man for several years, we became close friends during happy and sad times we where always there for each other, he became one of my best friends! DAVE was a loyal union man he cared deeply that all union brothers and sisters were treated with dignity. after we retired i would call him and we would talk for hours we would always argue and we would always laugh after, I can't believe he's gone I do miss him so!! i know DAVE is in heaven now no more pain and suffering, when you meet our friend DAVE BALLARD and i know you will he will call you by the nick name he gave you he liked you very much LORD TAKE GOOD CARE OF THIS MAN !!
