CLAUDE WORKMAN Obituary

MR. CLAUDE B. WORKMAN, 94, of Chapmanville, W.Va., was born December 4, 1923, at Harts, W.Va., a son of the late Wallace "Bud" and Vinnie Thompson Workman. He departed this life on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Trinity Healthcare Services of Logan, W.Va. Claude retired as the General Foreman at the Peach Creek Railroad Yard of the C&O Railroad; was a longtime member and deacon of the Chapmanville United Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school, Bible study and loved singing in the choir; was the long-standing Town Recorder for the town of Chapmanville, having served for more than 40 years in the town's government; and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Claude B. Workman Jr.; and his siblings, Virgie Adkins, Garnet Morris, Gladys Headley, Clyde Workman, Clarice Brumfield Thompson, Nickie Workman and Junie Workman. Survivors include his wife, Helen Farley Workman; children, Bryan (Tina) Workman of Kearneysville, W.Va., Donna (Carl) Webb of Selinsgrove, Pa., and Doyle Workman of Martinsburg, W.Va.; grandchildren, Cody (Kimberly) Webb of Oak Harbor, Wash., Chelsea Webb of Selinsgrove, Pa., and Tiffany (Tyrus) Dixon and Travis Workman, both of Kearneysville, W.Va.; his adopted granddaughter and her children, Andrea (Josh) Bryant and Aaron Glen, Andrew Ethan, Madelyn Kay, Meredith Jane Bryant and Jacob Hannah, all of Chapmanville, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Gail (Paul) Phipps; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Chapmanville, W.Va., with Rev. Bobby Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Farley Cemetery at West Fork, Chapmanville, W.Va., with military graveside services. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2018, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Chapmanville, W.Va.
