Darrell Barrett Sr.
WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Darrell Burgess Barrett Sr., 74, of Williamson, passed away Sun., June 29, 2014, at Pikeville Medical Center.
Born Feb. 9, 1940, in Williamson, he was a son of the late Russell and Thelma Billiter Barrett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gustavia Keaton Barrett, and a brother, Don Barrett.
Darrell was a retired civil service employee in the maintenance department of the Norfolk Naval Base. He had a second career as a paper hanger and was known throughout the area for his expertise as a wallpaper installer.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary (Terry) Shearer of Logan; two sons, Darrell (Wendy) Barrett Jr. and James Barrett, both of Williamson; three grandchildren, Nicole and Jennifer Barrett and Darrell Barrett III; four great-grandchildren, Jasmine Duell, Dylan Mabe, Bella Barrett and Jenna Barrett; two sisters, Patty Kirby of Portsmouth, Va., and Penny Kaufman of Norfolk, Va.; a sister-in-law, Mattie Keaton of Chattaroy; a niece, Karen Keaton and her daughter, Ashley of Chattaroy, and two special cousins, Douglas Savage Billiter and Donnie Jarvis. He is also survived by his dog Pugsey, who was his constant companion.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thurs., July 3, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. Interment is in the Mountain View Memory Garden at Maher.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
