GERTUDE McCOY
WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Gertrude McCoy, 87, of Williamson, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2017, at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, Tenn.
Born Feb. 11, 1930, in Goodman, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Keither Spaulding and Nancy Mollett Spaulding.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Linda McCoy Fugitt; a brother, Keither Spaulding, Jr; and four sisters, Josephine Bennett, Irene Stanley, Lorraine Gillispie and Hazel Spaulding.
A homemaker, Gertrude was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who devoted herself to her husband of nearly 70 years, Wheeler, and rearing their large family. Adored by her children, she was a deeply loving and caring mother. Her joy in living increased as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came into her life. She continued to center her life around her home and growing family. Gertrude was an outstanding cook and the family especially looked forward to holiday meals and gatherings. In her leisure time, Gertrude enjoyed reading, as she was an avid reader.
Gertrude will be sorely missed and fondly remembered in the hearts of all who had the joy of knowing her.
Gertrude is survived by her husband, Wheeler McCoy; six children, Rick McCoy, Maryville, Tenn., Randy (Sandra) McCoy, Stanton, Ky., Tim (Mary Lou) McCoy, Chattaroy, W.Va., Danny (Patricia) McCoy, White Pine, Tenn., Terry (Tonya) McCoy, Sissonville, W.Va. and Brenda (Ronnie) Savage, Roanoke, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Tommy Fugitt, Chattaroy; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 6p.m. to 9p.m, Friday, March 31, 2017, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the mortuary. Reverend Earl Coleman will officiate.
Interment is in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, W.Va.. Gertrude's grandsons will serve as her pallbearers. You may express online condolences at www.weavermortuaryinc.com.
