JOEY THACKER
GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Joey Neal Thacker, 47, of Georgetown, KY., passed away Saturday April 22, 2017, at the Baptist Health Hospital, Lexington, KY.
Joey was born July 2, 1969 in Ypsilanti, MI, to Wanda N. May Simpkins of Canada, Ky., and the late Garry Neal Thacker. Joey is also preceded in death by his sister, Denita Thacker Kelker. Joey served as a minister for many years and was a member of the Greater New Hope Church in Georgetown, Ky. Joey was an assembly line worker for Toyota, and he proudly served our country in the United States Army, spending 3 years in Germany. Most of all though, Joey loved his son, Zepheniah, more than anything.
Besides his mother, Joey is survived by his son, Zepheniah Neal Teron Thacker of Georgetown, Ky.; his sisters, Carolyn Wanda (Dave) Branham of Stamping Ground, Ky., and Mariruth (Jacob) Morris of Dryridge, Ky.. Joey is also leaves behind his step-dad, Lonnie Simpkins of Canada, Ky.; his niece, Adyson Young, nephews, Deacon Morris, and Christopher Matney, along with a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11a.m., Wednesday April 26, 2017, at the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Johnny Jacobs, Mike Elswick and David May officiating, Burial will follow at Rutherford Cemetery, Huddy, Ky., with Larry May, David Lee May, Dave Branham, Jacob Morris, Barry Thacker and Robert Thacker serving as pallbearers. Zepheniah Thacker will serve as a Honorary Pallbearer. Visitation will be from 6p.m. till 10p.m., Tuesday night at the Big Creek Primitive Church with special services at 7p.m. R. E.
