Daniel "Dan" Way, 72, of South Haven and the Saugatuck/Douglas, Mich. communities, passed away peacefully on the evening of Nov. 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Nov. 4, 1953, in Grand Rapids, Mich., Dan lived a full and energetic life marked by deep love for his family, hard work and genuine care for everyone he met.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife, Maribeth Way; his children Jennifer (Raul) Rodriguez, Ryan (Sarah) Way, and Rachael (Blair) Cotton; and ten wonderful grandchildren, as well as cherished nieces and a nephew. He is also survived by his siblings Michael, Kirk, Kendy, and Jinny, and by special friends Sherry Tedaldi and Tim Ottenwess.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Bonnie Way and his brother, John Way.
A successful and social real estate agent, Dan was well known and deeply respected in the South Haven and Saugatuck/Douglas communities, where his professionalism and enthusiasm helped countless clients find their place along the lakeshore. He served faithfully in his church and was generous with both his time and resources.
Dan had a gift for conversation and connection; he loved talking with people and was known for asking thoughtful questions that made others feel valued and special. Generous, ambitious, and hardworking, he poured his energy into his work, his community, and, above all, his family. His love for life was contagious and inspired those around him to dream bigger and reach new heights.
At home, Dan took great pride in his yard and gardens, always maintaining an immaculate home inside and out. He treasured time with his grandchildren and especially loved days spent at the beach with his family, where many of their favorite memories were made. Above all else, Dan's greatest joy was being with the people he loved.
A service celebrating Dan's life will be held at 11 a.m. with a visitation at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11 and a luncheon to follow at Douglas Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in honor of Dan's generous heart and his care for children.

"From the shores and beaches of Lake Michigan to the footsteps of Heaven, may my great friend rest in peace. Dan wasn't a friend, he was a great friend. Through the years we shared memories including family, fun, and adventure. To his family you have my condolences. He was Special.
