Esperanza Serratos Obituary

Esperanza Serratos, age 83 of Bangor, Mich. went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 18, 2025, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, Mich. surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 11, 1942 in Tinguindin, Mexico, the daughter of the late Julia DuVerney and Jose Campos.

On her birthday, April 11, 1957 she married Rodolfo Serratos and the couple remained married for 52 years until his passing in 2009.

She was the owner and operator of La Mexicana Grocery Store from 1979 to 2003 in the city of Bangor, which she ran with her husband Rodolfo.

Margie, as she was affectionately known, was an active and dear member of Redemption church of Bangor and was deeply loved by her family. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, growth and unwavering faith in God.

She is survived by her children, Rodolfo Serratos, Rosario Serratos, Lilia Arreola, Guillermo (Darlene) Serratos, and Arturo (Patricia) Serratos. Siblings; Yolanda DuVerney and Rosemary Mariscal; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many close friends and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Rodolfo Serratos, her parents, and siblings Alfred DuVerney, Beatrice Salinas, Annie Salinas, Greg Campos and Emil DuVerney; grandchildren César Serratos and Azeem Green.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025 at Redemption Church OEC, 108 High Street, Bangor, MI, with Pastor John H. Saylor and Pastor Bryce Saylor officiating.

Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Bangor with dinner at Redemption church to follow.
