In loving memory of Robert (Bob) Sollman, born on Feb. 25, 1940, who peacefully passed away at his home in South Haven on Oct. 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Shirley Sollman, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and love. He leaves behind his sons, Scott Sollman (Lisa) and Todd Sollman (Barb); his daughter, Theresa Gleason (Robert) and step-daughter, Joy Church (Scott). Bob was also a cherished presence in the lives of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
During his life, Bob served his country with dedication and pride in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division. He was a skilled machinist and contributed his talents to various endeavors. A member of the First Congregational Church in South Haven, Bob was an active and devoted member of his community.
Born in Chicago and raised in South Haven, Bob's roots ran deep in the place he called home throughout his entire life. He found solace and joy in the natural beauty of the area, indulging his passion for hunting and fishing. He was also known to be a master of cards and enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino, where his luck and charm would shine.
Bob was more than a remarkable husband, father, and grandfather; he was a beacon of love and support for his family. His warm smile and kind heart endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Sollman, and his sister, Joanne Bingham (Doyle). Their memory lives on in his heart as he joins them in the afterlife.
A Celebration of Bob's life may be held at a later date. Bob will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, a place where he will find eternal peace.
