Alice I. Magoon

Brockton Alice I. (Matheson) Magoon, age 92 years, passed away Sunday, July 13, at the Baypointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brockton. She was the wife of the late W. Fred Magoon Jr. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Antonia (Holmberg) Matheson. She was a graduate of Brockton High School and of the former Chandler Business School in Boston. Mrs. Magoon was a member of the Walk Over Club of Brockton, the Commercial Club of Brockton, the Browning Club of Easton and the Good Samaritan Womens Auxiliary. She belonged to the Brockton Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was also a longtime member of Christ Congregational Church in Brockton. She is survived by a daughter, Bette M. Frenette and husband Henry of South Easton; a son, James B. Magoon and wife Doreen of Barre, Vt.; five grandchildren, William A. Habig Jr., Trent R. Habig, Lisa Pearce, Kathleen Fuller and Rebecca Fournier; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Priscilla Norton and husband John of South Carolina. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. at Christ Congregational Church, UCC, 1350 Pleasant St., Brockton. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Christ Congregational Church, UCC, 1350 Pleasant St., Brockton, MA 02301.
