Daniel DiGiovine Obituary

Daniel DiGiovine Sr., age 91, of Taunton, passed away May 29, 2016 in Wedgemere Nursing Home following a brief illness. Daniel was the husband of his late loving wife, Mary (Fabiano) DiGiovine. He was born in Boston, the son of the late Robert and Adele DiGiovine. Daniel was educated in Boston schools, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during both World War II and the Korean War. It was Daniels wish to be laid to rest in uniform. Daniel was employed until his retirement at General Motors Company in Framingham. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Dorchester. He enjoyed volunteering at Brockton Hospital, being a handyman who could fix anything, hunting and primarily a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family. Daniel leaves his children Diane Hellwege of Taunton, Daniel DiGiovine Jr. of Brockton, Steven DiGiovine and his wife Denise of Marshfield. He also leaves his sister Martha LeBlanc of Millis. He was the brother of the late Francis Boucher and Lydia Larrabee. Daniel is survived by his grandchildren Shelly Hellwege, Hollie Bagge, Richard Hellwege and Tara DiGiovine and his great-grandchildren Nathaniel, Jonathan, Peyton and Dominick. Funeral from the OKeefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, Thursday, June 2, at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Marys Church in Taunton at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Josephs Cemetery in Taunton.
