Mr. Freer,
Sir, I didn't know you but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army Air Forces during WW II in the 8th Air Force. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. The men of the 8th Air Force flew against incredible odds almost every time they flew a mission-from missions lasting 8 or more hourstoenemy anti-aircraft fire and attacks from German propeller and jet fighters and had some of the highest casualty rates of WW II.

To Jay, Billy,Sue, Jayne and families:
Our prayers and thoughts are with you. We are so sorry to hear about your father, I remember the laughs we had when he would pick up the pizzas at the Cod. Lee, remembers the times at the Vega Club he had with Harvey and growing up around the corner from your family. Again our thoughts and prayers are with you all. He will be missed.

Dear Billy, Jay, Susan & Jane, it's been a long time, but I haven't forgotten. I remember your Dad well. I am sorry we have all lost or are threatened with losing our parents. What a great bunch, that generation! Hopefully,an unexpected piece of mail (like this) will provide a small uplift in your spirits and be a fond reminder of the days when all our families were young enough to live and laugh together. My sincere condolences. With fond regards............. Ellen (Roan ) Amantea
