Herbert Reed Obituary

Stoughton Herbert Everett Reed Jr., a longtime resident of Stoughton, formerly of Stagecoach Road in Canton, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Old Colony Hospice on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008. He was 73 years old. He was the husband of the late Sara P. (Doyle) and the late Lynda L. (Nader). Born Sept. 14, 1934, in Brockton, he was a beloved son of the late Herbert E. Reed Sr. and Frances D. (Huntress) Reed. He attended Stoughton public schools and was a corporal with the Massachusetts National Guard. Mr. Reed was employed for 25 years as a technician for the former D/A Technologies Corporation in Needham, and more recently, as a bus driver for the Lifeworks Co. in Norwood, retiring in 2007, after four years of dedicated service. Known as a "Dad to all", Mr. Reed enjoyed bowling on Thursday nights at the Stoughton Sports Center. He also had a special interest in collecting Di-Cast cars. His survivors include his children, Amy Reed of Stoughton, Adam Reed and his fiance Heather Fahey of Stoughton, Nicole Reed-Danilchuk and her husband Phil Danilchuk of Stoughton and Paula Steffy of Canton. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Homer of Florida; his companion, Judith A. "Judy" Fowler of Taunton; his seven grandchildren, John Conley Jr. and his wife Cindy, Alexander Smith, Kyle Reed, Dylan Reed, Zachary Smith, Tyler Reed, Joshua Gammon; and his one great-grandchild, Preston Conley. Visiting hours to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk St., Stoughton. His funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at 11 a.m.. in the chapel at Knollwood Memorial Park, 319 High St., Canton (funeral procession will leave from funeral home at 10:30 a.m.). Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368, in Herb's memory, would be appreciated.
