James W. Jim Larsen of Whitman, formerly of Randolph, passed away suddenly on February 20, 2021, at the age of 80. Born in Boston, Jim was raised in Randolph and graduated from Randolph High School. He later went on to receive his degree in Criminal Justice from Stonehill College. Prior to his retirement, Jim was a respected member of the Randolph Police Department, where he proudly served for over 32 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, clamming, and tending to his yard and garden. He was also a member of the Mallard Decoy Club in Brockton, longtime member of the Randolph ELKS and the Police Patrolman's Association. Jim was a champion horseshoe and cribbage player who had been challenged regularly but rarely beaten. Above all, Jim was a family man who simply loved spending time with his family and friends. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend, Jim will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Jim was the beloved husband and best friend of Karen (Larson) Larsen for over 50 years. Loving father of Janice Alden and her husband Chad of Taunton and Walter Larsen and his wife Carol of Cave Creek, AZ. Younger brother to Walter Larsen and his wife Nancy of E. Bridgewater. Cherished Papa to Hailey and Jenna Alden and Blake and Nicholas Larsen. He also leaves three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who adored him. At the request of the family, no public services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when a large gathering can be accommodated. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Massachusetts Police Association, 11 Beacon Street, Suite 300, Boston, MA 02108. Arrangements under the care of the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St., Randolph. To leave a sympathy message for the family, visit www. cartwrightfuneral.com.
