Michael Newton Obituary

Michael G. Newton, 70, of Brockton, died in the Good Samaritan Medical Center Dec. 25, 2014 following a lengthy illness. Michael is the husband of Jean (Mitchell) Newton; he was born in Boston and raised in Cambridge and was the son of the late Robert H. and Frances C. (Bryant) Newton. He proudly served in the US Army as a Small Arms Specialist and was stationed at the Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Following his tour he went to work for Poloroid in Cambridge, later as a taxi driver for Red and White Cab in Jamaica Plain, as a courier for Hydro-Pak and finally retiring from Chapman Manufacturing in Avon. Michael was Lifetime member of the Polish White Eagles Club in Brockton and was a big Patriot and Red Sox fan. In addition to his wife Michael is survived by his children Michael G. Jr and Lynn Gauthier both of Somerville; his siblings Kathleen F. Martin of Stoughton, David R. Newton of Somerville and Theresa Vasconcelos and his grandchildren Amanda, Michael, Amber, Ashley and Rachel and great granddaughter Faith. He was also pre deceased by his son Robert Newton Visiting hours will be in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123), Brockton, Monday 5 - 7 p.m. immediately followed by a funeral service at 7.
