Osmond Benjamino Obituary

Osmond J. "Ozzie" Benjamino, lifelong resident of Randolph, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness, on May 16, 2021, at the age of 89. Born and raised in Randolph, Ozzie graduated from Stetson High School. A talented athlete, he played both football and baseball for his high school and baseball with the Minor League Braintree White Sox. He then enlisted in the military and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, Weapons Company, during the Korean War where he earned the rank of Sergeant. Ozzie began his working career as a machinist at Boston Gear Works in Quincy and soon after joined the Randolph Police Department. As a member of the Randolph Police, he earned his associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Babson College and rose through the ranks, ultimately achieving the rank of Chief of Police until he retired in 1989 after 32 years of service to the town. In his free time, Ozzie enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson as a member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club and playing golf with his family and friends. A handyman around the house, he enjoyed doing construction projects and side jobs. A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Ozzie will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Osmond was the beloved husband of Anna (Losciuto) Benjamino. Loving father of Dawn Damon and her husband Rick of Middleborough, Wayne Benjamino of R.I., Terese "Terry" Benjamino of Randolph, Lance Benjamino and his wife Kathleen of Hanson and the late Marc Benjamino. Cherished "Papa" to Jacquelynn Benjamino, Joseph Benjamino, Kayla Benjamino and Marc Benjamino. Also survived by several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, which include face coverings, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity, those attending will be asked to pay their respects and depart to allow the next guests to enter the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, May 20, from 4-8 p.m. in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main Street, Randolph. Chief Benjamino,
Sir, as a fellow Marine and former Randolph resident I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice-first for our Country when you served with the USMC during the Korean War and later for the citizens of Randolph when you served with the RPD. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
