Robert L. Plouffe Jr.

Robert "Bob" Louis Plouffe Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Lansdowne, Virginia, the morning of June 14, 2017, at the age of 91. Bob Plouffe was born May 29, 1926, in Brockton, Mass., to Robert L. Plouffe Sr. and Venita Plouffe (nee Houde). After graduating from Brockton High School in 1944 at the height of World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as Radioman 1st Class aboard the Navys PBY-2 aircraft in the Pacific, even flying over the fleet in Tokyo bay during the armistice signing with Japan. After the war, Bob studied at MIT, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and marrying his former Brockton High School classmate, Lois Robey. Mr. Plouffe achieved great success in a brilliant technical and executive career that spanned 5 decades. He was credited with numerous patents in the communications and defense communications fields early in his career, eventually becoming President of what was then the largest division at Computer Sciences Corporation. He was a devoted husband, and a kind and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Plouffe is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois Robey Plouffe; three sons; six grandchildren; and eleven (soon to be twelve) great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind sisters, Gloria Carlson of East Falmouth, Mass., Phyllis Hancock of Brockton, Mass., and Denise Plouffe of Lubec, Maine. He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Janice Capachione of Brockton, Mass. A service and reception will be held on Monday, June 26, at 2 oclock in the ballroom at Lansdowne Woods, 19375 Magnolia Grove Square, Lansdowne, Va., to celebrate the life of Robert Louis Plouffe Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VITAS Community Connection at vitascommunityconnection.org.
