Virginia H. Pretorius

1932 - 2019

Virginia H. (Samatowicz) Pretorius, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on January 9, 2019 at the age of 86. She was the loving wife of Richard E. Pretorius for 56 years. Born in Brockton, the daughter of the late Jacob and Grace (Mackiewicz) Samatowicz, she was a lifelong resident of the city. After her graduation from Brockton High School in 1950, Virginia began a long career with the telephone company. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, day trips, spending time with her grandchildren and watching Days of Our Lives. She was the beloved mother of Richard O. Pretorius and his wife Nicole of Bridgewater, Robert Pretorius and his wife Jennifer of Whitman and Kristen O'Hare and her husband Michael of Brockton; dear grandmother of Courtney, Jacob, Ian and Cameron Pretorius and Samantha and Kelsey O'Hare and great-grandmother of Stella Pretorius. She was the sister of the late Mary Cronin, Anne Reno, William and Stanley Samatowicz. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
