Barbara A. Martin

Barbara A. Martin of Keystone Heights, Fla., formerly of Pembroke, Mass., passed away peacefully on September 2, 2021, surrounded by family at her side. She was 85 years old. Barbara was born and raised in Quincy, Mass., and was the daughter of the late Edward Burgess and Emily Burgess. She was a graduate of Quincy High School, class of 1953, and was a high school cheerleader. Barbara worked as the North Pembroke Elementary School secretary for 19 years. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and would often brag about them. Family was of the utmost importance to her. She spent many memorable moments in Disney, loved football games, music, and enjoyed views overlooking the water. Her supportive words, wisdom and advice are irreplaceable. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. Martin, who was the love of her life. Loving mother of Debra Raymond and her husband Al Raymond of Florida; and Lynn Ann Martin Reading and her husband Peter Reading of Pembroke, Mass. Sister of William Burgess and his wife Blinda of Quincy, Mass., and the late Edward Burgess of Quincy, Mass., and Beverly McCabe of Andover, Mass. She also leaves behind her two granddaughters, Cara Reading-Butman and her husband Jon Butman of Pembroke, Mass., and Christie Reading of Pembroke, Mass.; and two grandsons, Alex Raymond and Tyler Raymond of Florida. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 9, from 4-7 pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St., Kingston, Mass. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 10, at the Shepherd Funeral Home at 10 am. Burial will be at the Center Cemetery in Pembroke, Mass.
