Bernice Bigelow

Bernice "Claire" (Gillis) Bigelow, of Dorchester, died October 20, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Charles "Bob" Bigelow, she was the sister of Helena Burrows of Dorchester and the late Marie Ford, Frances McDonald and Leona Starr; sister-in-law of Evan Bigelow of Florida. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Claire was a retired legal secretary for many years. She was an active member of the Clam Point Neighborhood Association and an avid cat lover. Family and friends will honor and remember Claire's life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ambrose Church on Thursday morning, October 25, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, on Friday at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Claire's memory may be made to the Massachusetts Humane Society, P.O.
