Carol A. Redgate

Carol Alice Redgate, 79, of Forest, Va., passed away Monday, July 21, 2014. She was born June 2, 1935, in Plymouth, Mass., and was a daughter of the late Astore Scagliarini and Nella Boccacci Scagliarini. Carol graduated from Whitman-Hanson High School and went on to receive her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Mass. She married John Jack Redgate June 23, 1957. Carol was a Special Education teacher at Halifax Elementary School in Halifax, Mass., for over 30 years. She had many hobbies, but was best known for her beautiful floral gardens. She also enjoyed engaging in activities with her friends in the community, and was a member of the Lynchburg Newcomers Club. She attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John Henry Redgate. She is survived by her son, Shaun Redgate Sr. and wife Melody; daughter, Kathleen Henderson; grandchildren, Shaun Redgate Jr. and wife Molly Brett, Paul Redgate and wife Lindsey, Christina Muro and husband Evan, Scott Redgate and wife Carrie, Tyler Henderson, and Drew Henderson; great-grandchildren, Shaun Trey Redgate III, Hunter Redgate, Jordan Redgate, Madison Redgate, Emma Redgate, and Amelia Muro. A memorial service will be conducted 12:30 p.m., Friday, July 25, 2014, in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating.
