Christopher J. Ayers

1968 - 2017

Corporal Christopher John Ayers, a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Gulf War and a 23-year resident of Stoughton, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton. He was 49 years old and the beloved husband of over 24 years to Donna J. (Lloyd) Ayers of Stoughton. He was a cherished father to Morgan Ayers, Rhiannon Ayers and Liam Ayers, all of Stoughton. Other survivors include his loving parents, John Ayers, Francine Ayers and Kathleen Knorr, his siblings, Stephen F. Ayers and his wife Ronica of New Albany, Ohio, Kara L. Ayers and her husband Andrew Virostek of Lakeville, Seann W. Ayers and his wife Monica Berumen of Phoenix, Arizona, Thomas N. Hughes of Portland, Maine, Kellie J. Hughes and her husband Richad Salmendjee of Riverview, Florida; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Ayers was born June 4, 1968, at the Fort Belvoir Army Base in Virginia. Corporal Ayers proudly served his country during the Gulf War as a sniper with the 1st Marines 2nd Battalion and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal, "Semper Fi". He later attended the University of Baltimore and attained his B.A. degree in Accounting. He was a CPA for several accountants throughout his working career. Chris loved to cook, and spend quality time with his family. He also cherished his Sunday morning football games at the Chemung Hill School Field in Stoughton. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. from the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Veterans Administration Hospital located at 940 Belmont Street, Brockton. The Rev. Jack Simpson, officiating. Funeral procession will be forming at the funeral home at 12 p.m. on Saturday for the procession to the chapel. All are welcome to attend. Burial with military honors will immediately follow the chapel services at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
