Mashpee PFC Daniel A.C. McGuire, USMC, 19, of Mashpee, was killed in action on August 14, 2008 while conducting combat operations in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq. He was the son of Mark & Karen Kae McGuire. Born in Middleboro and moved to Mashpee as a toddler. Attended Heritage Christian Pre-School and Mashpee Public Schools graduating in the Class of 2007. A long-time attendee of Christ Chapel in Centerville serving in vacation bible school as an usher and participating in youth group. Excelled in academics and was a multiple recipient of the Samuel B. Davis Good Manners Award, earned a letterman's jacket by excelling on the MCAS Exam. Played lacrosse for Mashpee High School and enjoyed participating in the Blue Falcon Theatre Group. Best know for his portrayal of Edward P. Dowd in their production of "Harvey". Sang with the Mashpee High School concert choir. A long-time Boy Scout achieving the rank of Life Scout, a member of the ABAKE-MI-SA-NA-KI lodge of the Order of the Arrow and earning his God & Country award. Created the flag retirement boxes in place in municipal buildings in Mashpee. Loved to sketch, woodcarving, reading and writing. Daniel's dedication to God, family and country made him a dedicated friend to all who knew him. Besides his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Samuel, Stephen & Benjamin, all of Mashpee; brothers-in-heart, SPC Timothy Brainard of Colorado and James Brainard of Middleboro; grandparents, Bob & Hilda Buck of Middleboro and Julia McGuire and the late William McGuire of Quincy; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. We celebrate Daniel's faith, love, laughter and patriotism. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Christ Chapel, 1200 Old Stage Rd, Centerville, MA 02632.
