Gary F. McEttrick (born 1954), of Pembroke, passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2021. Gary's family is grateful that he passed away in one of his favorite places surrounded by nature. Gary loved cars and driving his whole life, making it both his career and his hobby. He loved camping and plotting out his driving routes for how to see different parts of the country, and always had a new park or landmark on his 'to visit' list. Gary loved people and he loved talking with everyone, from people he had just met (sometimes to the embarrassment of his children) to those whom he had known for decades. He was a true friend to all, reliable and always there to help. Most importantly, Gary was the best Dad his five children could have ever asked for. His support for and pride in his kids was unwavering and he always made them believe they could do anything. He was such a good Dad that many of his children's friends also viewed Gary as a father figure and everyone has a funny story about Gary's antics and his kindness to them. Gary is survived by his children Jacquelyn of Milton, Kimberli of Hanson, Deborah of Hanson, Tyler of Marshfield, and Andraea of Pembroke; his former wife Wendy; his brothers and several nephews; and more friends than can be counted. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Gary's life on Tuesday, September 7 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St, Rte 53 in Hanover. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM followed by interment at Center Cemetery in Pembroke.
