James W. Ritchie

James W. Ritchie, of Quincy, and a former Hull resident for over 30 years, died on Wednesday, Jan. 27th, 2010 at the Radius Specialty Hospital in Quincy. He was 85. Mr. Ritchie was born in Lowell, MA and was raised in Billerica. Mr. Ritchie graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a degree in psychology. He also served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. For many years he owned and operated The J.W. Ritchie Co., a wholesale clothing business located in Hingham and later in Rockland. In addition, he was an active volunteer with the Hull Senior Center. He was the father of Cheryl C. Ritchie of Safety Harbor, FL and Ronald N. Ritchie of St. Petersburg, FL. Grandfather of Daniel R. and Peter J. Ritchie both of Denver, CO. Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Saturday afternoon from 2 - 4 p.m. The Funeral Services and Interment are to be private.
