John M. Costello

John Michael Costello, of Cohasset and York Beach, Maine, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the age of 73. He was the beloved husband of Ellen (Murphy) Costello; loving father of two sons, Sean Costello and his wife Devon of Braintree and Scott Costello and his wife Mary of Brentwood, California; dear grandfather to his three grandchildren, Sean Patrick Costello, Kathryn Costello and Michael Costello; son of late John and Julia Costello; devoted brother of Mary Corey of Waltham, Anne Lacey of Milton and the late Peggy Doyle. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Dorchester, John retired from the Stop and Shop companies as a Teamster with Local 25 and also worked prior for many years at Boston Gas. In retirement, he loved to watch his grandchildren play sports and he participated in all of their accomplishments and loved to watch all of his Boston sports teams. Reposing at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree, until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday, December 15, from 4-8 p.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
