John Hynes Obituary

John David Hynes Dave the Barber, 65 years of age, passed away peacefully at his home in Weymouth on May 9, 2012 after a long illness. He was born in Weymouth and had been a lifelong resident of Weymouth. He was a real townie who was known and loved by all. After graduating from Weymouth Vocational High School in 1965, he worked briefly as a cabinet maker before attending Barber School. In 1969, David joined his dad John (Tom) at his barber shop in Jackson Square, East Weymouth. For many years, the barber shop was known as Tom and Daves. After Davids father retired, longtime friend Rocco Russo joined the shop, which is now known as Jackson Square Barbers. David had a very contagious laugh, and was always the life of the party and surely will be missed by all who knew him. He was a Life Member of the Guiseppe Verdi Sons of Italy Lodge in East Weymouth. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane E. (Jenks) Hynes. Loving brother of Margaret Travers and her husband Michael of Weymouth, brother and best friend of Robert J. Hynes married to Susan M. Hynes of Pembroke and Patricia Forge of Hampton, N.H. In addition he is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews Dave was a devoted son of the late John Thomas Hynes and Mary A. (Nista) Hynes. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck | Russell Peck Funeral Home, 870 Broad Street (Opposite the U.S. Post Office and next to the barber shop in Jackson Square), East Weymouth on Saturday, May 12, from 2 to 6 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the First Church in Weymouth (Congregational), 17 Church Street, Weymouth Heights on Monday, May 14 at 11 a.m. The Reverend Gary Blume will officiate. Please note that there are no calling hours at the funeral home on Sunday, May 13 (Mothers Day). Memorial donations may be sent to the Norwell VNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061 or to the Dana Farber Brigham Cancer Center at South Shore Hospital, 101 Columbian Street, South Weymouth, MA 02190.
