Fr Jack would charm all the ladies at Hair Heart and Soul salon in Bristol when he would come in for his monthly haircut. He would always credit his older brothers for their generosity and would say " this is because of my brothers that I am able to come and get my haircut". He loved his family so very much

Going to miss Fr Jack, he was a good friend to my family, and very comforting to my mother when she was dying, coming to the house the night before and spending hours talking and telling great stories. RIP Jack

I am sorry for the loss to the Roche family, and for the loss for the many that were lucky enough to know Jack. He was truly a friend, a Priest, a special kind of man. When I got to know him just wanted to be known as "just one of the guys". The South Shore YMCA has missed him these last few years. He is a friend I was glad to have in life......

I experienced my first Novena at St. Joseph's in Quincy with Fr. Jack telling delightful stories about Renquist basking in the sun! You could hear him singing before he even left the Sacristy. Oh, how he loved the center isle! His homilies were second to none. My husband Kenny, Jack and I were the "Theatre Group" and had a great time going to dinner and the theatre in and around Boston before he moved to Bristol. I will miss my dear friend!

Father Jack was a great story teller, so it was great to go to church, and have him say the mass, because at the homily, you knew you were in for a treat. He always had a great story about his parents or to empty your dumpster and forgive. He was a gift from God, and will get his due reward in heaven.

We will miss Jack in Bristol, RI. He was a very kind soul, extremely generous, but most of all a riot! His storytelling kept us entertained during visits to the bagel shop, local restaurants, or when we accompanied him to the movies
or live theatre performances. He won't be forgotten.

Father Roche was an extraordinary story-teller. I used to go out of my way to go to any Mass he would celebrate on the weekends at St. Joseph's in Quincy. I loved his ongoing tales of his cat Renquist and his many exploits. I used to see him for all those wonderful quirky movies at the Loring in Hingham. He was a character - with the loudest singing voice and the bluest eyes!!! I haven't seen him in years but have thought of him numerous times each time I pass St. Joe's. Rest in peace Fr. Roche - you were one in a million!! Judy McKee - Weymouth

Fr. Jack married John and I in Bantry where his mother Elsie was born. He retained links with his relatives here and I wrote to him on a regular basis. Ours was the first family wedding he performed here 25 years ago and we stayed in his house in Marshfield on our honeymoon while he holidayed in Ireland. We will all miss him. Mary
