Joe was a second father to Diane and I.He was Papa to Jessica , Kerri and Tommy. He always made us feel like we were part of the family. We will miss him and love him for ever. We love all of you. Thank you for always being there for us.

Dear Carol and Family,
My son Joey called me this afternoon and told me the sad news. I know Joe's passing is a tremendous loss for all of you. I can't begin to explain the sadness I feel for you and all your family.
My Joey as you remember use to be a fixture at your house during our sons teenage years. I always knew he was in safe hands "at the Melansons." :) He always felt close to your family and I did too.
Both you and Joe were always so good to my son Joey and he remembers that with much fondness and he thinks the world of both of you. He said to me tonight "They were like my second family."
There are always some people we meet in our life that you feel a "Special Connection" with and my family ALWAYS felt that "Special Connection" with your family. You may go years without seeing each other like we have but when we do see each other or learn of a tragedy like this its like time stands still and we feel that closeness that "Special Connection" that will ALWAYS be in our hearts.
May God give all of you the strength to get through this most difficult time and the days to come. Joe will be with you every step of the way. Keep your treasured memories and Joe will always be with you.
Rest In Peace Joe. Your going to be missed by everyone who knew you. (As my son Joey said to me tonight
Mr. Melanson was "A Good Man.") And truer words were never spoken.

For as long as Sara (Blackerby)and Lisa have been friends, I feel like we have always been 'honorary' Melansons. Grampa Joe and Nana Carol have never failed to greet us warmly and make us feel welcome so we, too, feel the sadness of this loss. We are so shocked and saddened of Uncle Joe's passing. He was such a good man, devoted to his family, his patriotism and his religion. A man of few words, but what he did say was either humorous or heartfelt. Little Matthew wanted to tell you that Uncle Joe was his favorite great-uncle. We will miss him dearly.

My prayers and condolences to the Melanson family. I will always remember how generous Joe was as a neighbor and friend; from his work with us kids in Boy Scouts to keeping my car welded together during my college years. He will be missed and remembered fondly. Peace to Joe and his family.

Words just won't be enough to tell you how sad we are to learn of Joe's passing.
It is always shocking and sorrowful when someone so good and so kind is taken so suddenly. The flip side of loss is that there is now another wonderful Angel watching over the family and friends he loved so well here on earth. Joe's spirit will live on through your memories and through the many kindnesses he bestowed on the people around him. Please accept our deepest, most heartfelt sympathy at this very difficult time. To be honest I somehow feel cheated that I didn't get to know him as well as others did. What I did know and observe I found to be nothing short of amazing. He restored my faith in humanity and compassion. He will be missed by all. I look forward to the day when we can meet again, where I can learn more about him and hear of his journey to God.
