Joseph W. Sheehan

Joseph W. Sheehan, age 93, of Quincy, formerly of Braintree, died peacefully, Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Boston Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Quincy, raised and educated in Quincy schools and was a graduate of Quincy Trade School, Class of 1937. He also attended Lowell Technical Institute at MIT. He had lived in Quincy for the last five years, previously in Braintree for over forty years. Joseph worked for forty-six years at Boston Gear Works as an electrician and later as a plan engineer, retiring in 1985. He was a longtime member of Saint Thomas More Church in Braintree. Joseph enjoyed oil painting, dancing, and traveling. He was handy and liked to work around his home. Beloved husband of the late Merlyn E. (Orcutt) Sheehan, he was the devoted father of Joseph J. Sheehan of Quincy, Robert E. Sheehan and his wife Diep C. of Natick, and John F. Sheehan of Quincy; father-in-law of You-jia Chen Sheehan of Quincy; brother of Anna Tingley of Braintree, Elizabeth Caron of Quincy, and James Sheehan of Braintree; dear friend of Eleanor Murphy of Hingham. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Ave., Quincy, Friday, November 30, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School St., Quincy, at 10 Oclock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 p.m. Interment in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
