ROCKLAND Katherine Kay(Genovese) Romano of Rockland, June 12, age 89, loving wife of the late Aqualino T. Romano; loving mother of Thomas E. Romano and wife Barbara of Marshfield, and Robert A. Romano and wife Marcia of Braintree; loving grandmother of Thomas E. Jr., Joseph M., James C., Christopher and John Romano, Lisa Marie Romano, and Katherine Romano; loving great grandmother of Luca Tennyson Romano and Jake Thomas Romano; loving daughter of the late Jenny (Celona) and Emmanuele Genovese; loving sister of the late Nicholas Genovese and the late Mary Teebagy; Also, survived by sister-in-law Camille Torcivia and many nieces, nephews and their families. The youngest daughter of immigrants from Messina Sicily, Katherine grew up in South. Boston moving to Dorchester in 1946, married and became a homemaker until 1968 when she became a Banquet Manager at Howard Johnson Hotel in S. Boston until the late 1970s after, she went to work at Lady Grace Stores in Hanover and Pembroke for the next 16 years retiring in 2006, at age 86. Katherine graduated from South Boston HS in three years, even while skipping school to go to the RKO Theatre to watch Frank Sinatra live with the Tommy Dorseys Band when he would sing in Boston; But, her whole life was her family, that is when she was the happiest! Funeral from the Quealy and Son Funeral Home, 116 Adams St., Abington, Wednesday June 17 at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Marys Church, Hanover 9 a.m. Visitation Tuesday 3 to 7 p.m. Interment St. Michaels Cemetery, Roslindale.
