Mary R. Konetzny

1920 - 2016

Mary Rita Konetzny of Marshfield, formerly of Jamaica Plain, passed away peacefully on April 17. Born June 24, 1920, she was the beloved wife of the late Walter J. Konetzny; daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Garrity) O'Donnell; devoted mother of Paul and Jeanne Konetzny of Marshfield, Robert and Karen Konetzny of North Ft. Myers, Fla., and Thomas and Patricia Konetzny of Maynard; grandmother to Lauren Konetzny, Lynne O'Donnell, Mary, Timothy, Michael, John and Anne Konetzny and Noreen Hughes. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren. She was sister of Patricia Trumpler of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and the late Thomas J. O'Donnell and Julia DeMott; sister-in-law of Lillian O'Donnell of Miami, Fla. In addition she leaves her 7 nieces and nephews and her many dear cousins. A graduate of Emmanuel College Class of 1942, Mrs. Konetzny held master's degrees from both Boston State and Boston College. Most of her thirty-two year teaching career was spent at the John D. Philbrick School in Roslindale as classroom and Special Ed teacher. Visiting hours will be held at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home, 10 Tower St. (opposite Forest Hills MBTA Station), Jamaica Plain, Thursday, April 28, from 4-8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann by the Sea Parish, 591 Ocean St., Marshfield, Friday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m. A graveside interment service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Ave., Jamaica Plain, Saturday, April 30. Family and friends will meet at the main gate to the cemetery at 2 p.m. and then proceed to the family lot.
