Thomas AuCoin Obituary

Thomas Robert AuCoin Wayside Thomas Robert AuCoin, 71, of Wayside, Ocean Township died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch. He was an associate laboratory director at Fort Monmouth and chief of the Advanced Semiconductor Technology Branch, Electronic Technology and Devices Laboratory, US Army Electronics Research and Development Command at Fort Monmouth. He held over 20 patents. He retired in 2001 after 39 years. He later became vice-president of General Technical Services in Wall Township. He was a graduate of Northeastern University with a BS in chemical engineering in 1959. He served in the US Army and was a communicant and actively involved of St. Anselms Roman Catholic Church, Wayside, Ocean Township and served on the finance committee. He was a member of Trout Unlimited in Ocean and the IEEE. Mr. AuCoin was born in Quincy, MA and lived in East Weymouth, MA before moving here over 40 years ago. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas and a brother, Steven AuCoin. Surviving are his wife, Valerie Szwed AuCoin; mother, Margaret AuCoin of MA; son, David and his wife Judy AuCoin of Clearwater, FL; daughters, Valerie and her husband Bill Stirrat of Freehold and Carol and her husband Brian Copeland of Sarasota, FL; his sisters and brother, Barbara Frongello of PA, Catherine Thibodeau, Martha Abraham, Mary Cosgrove, Rita McMurray, Paula Ward and Michael AuCoin all of MA; and 5 grandchildren, Arielle, Jenny and Kyle AuCoin and Tyler and Rachel Stirrat. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 3-7 p.m Sunday St. Anselms Church, 1028 Wayside Road, Wayside. Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday at the church followed by entombment at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Barnabas Hospice, 300 Second Avenue CW6, Long Branch, NJ 07740 or to The Center, 806 Third Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ 07712. Condolences may be emailed [email protected] and will be received by the family.
