A. Adair "Bob" Watters, Jr.

SPARTANBURG, SC-- A. Adair "Bob" Watters, 83, of 400 Webber Road, died Thursday, September 25, 2008, at White Oak Estates. Born December 14, 1924, in New Orleans, LA, he was the son of the late Col. Alfred Adair Watters and Ellen Lee Sloo Kearny Watters and the husband of Natalie Walker Watters.
He was a graduate of Christ School and Tulane University and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He spent most of his professional life as an agent for the New York Life Insurance Company. After retirement, he formed a security alarm business.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by A. Adair Watters, III and his wife Holly of Spartanburg; Ellen Wilkins and her husband Thomas of Burlington, VT; Florence Godfrey and her husband Richard of Greenville, SC; and David Watters and his wife Charlotte of Raleigh, NC. In addition to 14 grandchildren, he is survived by two brothers, Warren Kearny Watters of New Orleans, LA and Russell P. Watters of Fresno, CA.
After a private interment, there will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at the Episcopal Church of the Advent. The family will receive friends following the service at a reception in the Parish and Community Life Center at the Church of the Advent.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ School, 500 Christ School Road, Arden, NC 28704; the Episcopal Church of the Advent, 140 Advent Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or Trinity Episcopal Church, 1315 Jackson Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130.
