Carl Vernon McBee

SPARTANBURG, SC-- Carl Vernon McBee, age 79, of 303 Westview Blvd., passed away, Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at home with his beloved family.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was born February 1, 1930, to the late John "Squirrel" and Retha McBee. Mr. McBee honorably served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years. He worked forty-seven years at Spartan Mill Spinning Room and eleven years at Spartanburg County Wellford Landfill. Mr. McBee was an avid NASCAR and Baseball fan. He was a member of Duncan Memorial Baptist Church.
Mr. McBee is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Betty Jennings McBee of the home; five sons, Wayne, Ricky, Dale, Donnie and Ronnie McBee, all of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Delores Blackwell of Spartanburg; and one brother, Gene McBee of Union.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Dunbar Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM. Graveside services will be Thursday, January 14, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Memorial Garden officiated by Steven McBee.
At the request of Mr. McBee, pallbearers will be his five sons, Wayne, Ricky, Dale, Donnie and Ronnie and his four grandsons, Steven, Blake, Aaron and Caleb McBee.
In memory of Mr. McBee, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Gibbs Cancer Research Center, 101 East Wood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.

McBee family I am so sorry for your loss.I worked with Richard for many years and know what a close knit family all of you are.Carl and my late father played baseball together many years ago and were friends also,it is truely a sorrow to loose loved ones but God will give you piece and comfort knowing he is well now.
