Christopher "Shane" Burgess

LOUISVILLE, KY- The family of Shane Burgess, 43, of Louisville, announces his passing on February 5, 2021 at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center Hospice. Shane was a proud veteran of The United States Marine Corps, having served four years active and four years reserve duty.
Shane was born in Rutherford County, NC to Harley Eugene and Martha (Waddell) Burns and adopted as a toddler by Jesse and Maureen Burgess. He is preceded in death by his biological father, mother and brother, Phillip.
Shane was a 1996 graduate of Chapman High School in Inman, SC where he lettered in soccer and band. He was the valedictorian of his graduating class at ITT Technical Institute in Louisville, where he earned a degree in Computer Science and went on to become a software engineer at Humana in Louisville. Shane was an active member of Inman United Methodist Church during his youth.
Shane is survived by a daughter, Grace of New York; his adoptive parents, Maureen and Jesse, brother, Mark and sister, Kelly all of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by two biological sisters and a host of loving biological and adoptive aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and many good friends.
Arrangements in Louisville are being handled by Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions. Committal services with military honors at the Beaufort National Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.
