SPARTANBURG, SC-- Elsie S. Donald, 91, widow of Wiley R. Horton and James A. Donald, Jr., died April 15, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home surrounded by her closest family members and several close friends. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Florence Sellars.
She was retired from Spartan Undies and was a former member of the Cherokee Springs Eastern Star.
"Miss Elsie," as she was affectionately called by many of her friends, loved God, her family, church, church family and her many, many friends. She was a faithful member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Boiling Springs, SC, for most of her life and a devoted Christian whose life was a testimony of her deep faith in God.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. Her niece, Judy Raines, wishes to extend a special thanks to all who enriched her life by their visits, phone calls, cards and other acts of kindness as well as those at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home who helped to make her departure from this life as easy and dignified as possible.
Friends will be received Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 2:00 PM and the funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at Mountain View Baptist Church in Boiling Springs, with Rev. Phil Whelchel and Raymond Gilbert officiating. The burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Holland, Jerry Horton, Lindsey Horton, Tony Horton, David Hughes, Darrell McKinney, Calvin Riggs and Billy Sprouse. Honorary pallbearers will be the Welcoming Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mountain View Baptist Church Building Fund, 5555 Parris Bridge Road, Boiling Springs, SC, 29316 or Mobile Meals, 419 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC, 29302.
