GAFFNEY, SC - Ginger Elizabeth Horton, 57, of 850 Potter Road, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at her residence.
Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of Vera Littlejohn Horton of Gaffney and the late C. F. (Buddy) Horton. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School and received her Bachelor's degree of Science and a Master's of Arts in teaching from Winthrop College. She retired from the Cherokee County School System after 28 years at Blacksburg High School, a small school where she taught multiple subjects. With all subjects, her goal was to let all the students know that life existed outside the Town of Blacksburg. She believed education brings opportunity and always encouraged her students to achieve and strive for more in all areas of life.
Surviving in addition to her mother is her constant companion and partner of 28 years, Teresa Rhymer. Together they built a house and together they made it a home, a home shared with many friends and family. In addition she is survived by her brother, Gregory (Knot) Horton; her extended family, Jean Rhymer Heath Jansen and Paul; Stanley Heath; Carrie Heath Harris, her husband, Kelly, and their sons Cohen and Blaine; Julie Heath Watters, her husband Jason, and their children Mason and Abbey; Jessica Rhymer Knight, her husband, Zach, and their sons, Cody, Cooper, and Case. She leaves behind her faithful dog Karsen and loving cat Maggie.
